Name: Moxxie Knolastname
Door: Door pass, please!

Canon: Helluva Boss
Canon Point: Right after S2E12 Sinsmas, inclusive of all Helluva Shorts up to Mission: Whacked Off (their place in the timeline is unclear, but for the sake of this app I'm assuming they all occurred between S2E08 The Full Moon and Sinsmas).

Age: 27
Appearance:

History: Summary of backstory and canon events

Personality:

Empathy:

Unlike most imps (and Hellborns in general), empathy for others - even strangers - comes very easily to Moxxie. It's a trait he comes by honestly, as we see flashbacks where his mother tries to shield him from the life of crime and violence his father, Crimson, wants to induct him into. He was very young when she was killed, but it's clear he inherited her soft heart, even if she wasn't around to protect and guide him as he grew up. He cried over the first man his father made him kill.

His life of crime and working as an assassin desensitized him to a degree, but never fully destroyed that part of him. Even in the first episode Murder Family, he was so horrified at the idea that they might ever target a family that he struggled to shoot a photo of a couple and their kids for practice. His empathy does get him in trouble with his job - again, in the first episode, his reluctance to shoot a mother and orphan her children gets all of them nearly killed when it turns out the whole family are well-armed satanist cannibals - but it also helps balance the rest of the crews' chaotic natures.

He's the one that pushes for doing missions by the book, like reminding Blitzo that they can't just kill indiscriminately, but need clients to hire them for specific hits in Spring Broken, or trying to prove himself in Unhappy Campers by requiring they investigate and find more than circumstantial evidence so they can be absolutely sure they're killing the right target (he does, of course, mess this up spectacularly, but the spirit was there). He wants them to be professional for the sake of his pride and reputation, yes, but he also clearly feels strongly about preferring to killing people who deserve it in some way. And especially about not killing innocents, like he expresses in both Mission Zero and Murder Family. He also tries to take care of people around him. In Loo Loo Land he brings a whole first aid kit in case anyone get sick or has a headache, and eagerly offers it to Octavia when she expresses she's not feeling well, despite not knowing her at all.

One of the strongest moments displaying his empathy is in the episode Sinsmas. The team is hired for a hit on a gay couple by one of the men's deceased ex-wife, mirroring the struggles his boss Blitzo and his lover Stolas are going through at the moment. Moxxie recognizes that Blitzo is hurting and doesn't want to go through with the job, so tells him that this one isn't worth it, even though the company is always struggling for money. In this way, he encourages Blitzo to give himself permission to put his own needs first and refuse the job, and even talks down Millie when she protests.

Insecurity:

Moxxie is deeply, deeply insecure, stemming from never being good enough to earn his mobster father's love, no matter how hard he worked for the family or how good he was with a gun. He has a pattern of falling for anyone who will give him positive attention, which is how he ended up with the sleezy loser known as Chaz, who chose the money they were stealing over him and ditched him during a heist, leading to his arrest. His second great love, Millie, worked out better, but they're deeply codependent on each other, in a large part due to Moxxie's insecurity, at least on his end. Even Blitzo points this out while under the effects of truth serum in Truth Seekers.

Not that Blitzo actually helps Moxxie's insecurity any. In fact, he exploits it, turning him into the company scapegoat. He blames Moxxie whenever something goes wrong, whether it was his fault or not. He also constantly negs Mox with comments about his body, frequently calling him 'fat' (he very much is not) or 'baby dicked'. Loona's picked this up too, especially the fat comments, and it's to the point where Moxxie actually tells her once that he's lost two pounds. He's clearly affected by their comments enough to actually worry about his weight, despite them being obviously false. Even Millie does little to back him up at the office when he's getting teased or abused, and most of the time he just takes it like he believes it.

In some cases, he does get defensive. In The Harvest Moon Festival, he becomes so preoccupied with showing his in-laws and their hotshot "farmhand" (who's secretly an assassin) that he can be a tough, manly man, that when he winds up in actual danger he forgets to use his firearm. The difference between this scenario and the mockery he tolerates from Blitzo and Loona is the implication that he's not good enough for Millie, rather than simply not being good enough in general. He's far more willing to prove himself for her sake than stand up for himself.

Pretentious:

Like many insecure people, Moxxie often masks his feelings of inferiority and not being good enough by finding a few things he does feel confident about to latch onto those to try to feel superior in some small way. For Moxxie, these things tend to be music and musicals, theater in general, fashion, and coffee. While his love for these things is genuine, he goes overboard in assuming that his subjective opinions on these matters are objectively correct - he even says at one point that he should've been a film critic because his opinions are 'objectively correct', and it wasn't as a joke.

He's forever dragging Moxxie and Blitzo to musicals and plays, and gets deeply upset when they don't enjoy them the same way he does (as Blitzo reveals under the effects of truth serum in Truth Seekers). He claims that they can't make opera bad because "there's literally nothing bad about opera". His coffee orders are convoluted and obnoxiously specific, to the point where he gives Blitzo "douche chills". And he frequently makes comments on Blitzo's fashion being, well, bad. It's not the only way he criticized his boss, but usually it's for practical reasons, like when he wastes the company's money, stalks Moxxie and Millie when they're off the clock, or wants them to follow a terrible plan. His clothing choices are one of the very few more personal insults Moxxie throws at him.

High Strung:

Moxxie's easy to shake up and throw off his game, and has a lot of nervous energy. He gets panicky whenever things go off plan, or when the plan itself is bad to start with. His decision making in high stress scenarios is impaired, like when he needs Millie to remind him to shoot his way out of the basement after Striker captures them in The Autumn Moon Festival, or when he messes up Blitzo's shot in Murder Family. In Truth Seekers, Blitzo surprises him during a battle montage and he actually drops his gun in surprise, accidentally shooting his target in the dick instead of a clean kill.

He also tends to have breakdowns. In Ghostf**kers he completely flips out about not being able to balance the company's books after Blitzo's reckless spending spree, going as far as to bang his head against the windows screaming "BANKRUPTCY, BANKRUPTCY!!" He similarly panics in Mastermind when they're raided by the authorities, crying over the paper shredder breaking. Luckily, he doesn't seem to find a routine assassination mission stressful enough to set him off, so he's usually able to do his job reasonably well, but he definitely goes off the rails once the stakes start getting higher.

Powers and Abilities:

Imp Abilities:

- Imp anatomy (prehensile tail and tongue, sharp teeth, claws, cloven hooves, and swooping horns).

- Night vision (imp eyes glow in dim or dark lighting),

- Immunity to mundane fire (hellfire still damages them, but Earthly fire is harmless. They can go so far as consuming hot coals for warmth without injury).

- Drug tolerance (Moxxie is a lightweight by demon standards, but he can still handle way more mundane drugs and alcohol for his size and experience level compared to a human).

- Durability (imps aren't impervious to injury by a long shot, but they can take more punishment than a human, and they heal remarkably quickly from most stabs, gunshot wounds, beatings, etc. Blessed and/or angelic weapons can presumably hurt them a lot worse than mundane weapons, as these can injure and kill much more powerful, near-immortal Hellborn races).

Personal Skills:

- Marksman (Moxxie is incredibly skilled with a variety of ranged weapons, from crossbows to sniper rifles. He's also well read on firearm history and their tactical use in Hell's battles.)

- Close combat (although Moxxie is the weakest of the I.M.P. assassins at close range, he can still hold his own against the average person. He'll have a lot more trouble with people who really know how to fight. He knows how to handle a range of bladed and blunt weaponry, as well as how to defend himself while unarmed).

- Acrobatics (Moxxie is frequently shown to be incredibly athletic, fast, and maneuverable in combat, often leaping around, swinging on ropes or by his tail, and dodging and weaving around bigger, slower combatants).

- Musically gifted (Moxxie sings, write songs, and plays the guitar as his primary hobby and passion outside of work).

- Accounting (most of I.M.P.'s important paperwork winds up on Moxxie's desk, so he's become adept at managing the nitty gritty details of running the company, including taxes and accounting).

- Domestic skills (Moxxie does his fair share of cooking, housekeeping, and financial management for his and Millie's household, and heavily involved in creating the many costumes the crew wears when visiting Earth this last point is admittedly headcanon but very fitting for his character imo).

Inventory: His guitar, a framed wedding photo of him and Millie, and his handgun (likely a custom Colt M1911A1)
